Point Of Relief

Historical references to a universal energy field date back as far as 5000 B.C. to India where prana was considered to be the basic source of life. In China it was referred to as chi and was believed to be in all matter. Two polar forces were recognized, yin and yang. When these two forces were in balance one was considered to be healthy. More recently Western medicine has begun to recognize energy within the body with the advent of devices capable of detecting its effects in the body. Energy fields associated with the human body have been detected by electroencephalograms (EEG), electrocardiograms (ECG), and very highly sensitive devices such as superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUID). Practitioners of alternative forms of health care often believe much of the illness we see in the human body is the result either a blockage of the flow of the energy of the body, or an imbalance in the energy from one side of the body to the other. When the energy balance is restored, the body begins the healing process. Often, symptoms seem to almost miraculously lessen or even disappear. Energy imbalance is the result of too much nerve energy being sent to a part of the body in response to pain or dysfunction. The body gets caught in an endless loop of trying to make corrections. The result is an imbalance in which the deficient side develops painful trigger points. These trigger points are formed in the areas where acupuncture meridians are located. Therapies have been developed using these points to release blockages of energy and allow the proper amount of energy to flow. One does not need to use needles. These are the same acupressure points used by massage therapist to release tension, increase blood flow, and strengthen the body’s natural life force to assist in healing.

When energy is flowing to one side of the body more than the other, it can be easily felt in the form of muscle tension. Nerve impulses are sent along the nerves to muscles and other locations in the body. In the muscles this naturally causes them to be more contracted. A muscle that is contracted is shorter than a muscle that is relaxed. As a result of the increased muscle contraction, one entire side of the body will often feel tighter. How can we balance this energy and cause both sides of the body to be equally relaxed? The method is simple.

Trigger points are located by their tenderness, and once located, static pressure is applied holding the point for about 30-90 seconds or when a release is felt. The initial stimulation of the trigger point sends a signal to the central nervous system to send more energy to the deficient side. The side that was getting the excessive energy suddenly has energy diverted from it, and the deficient side begins to receive an increase in energy. After a short time, a balance is achieved. The body is then able to use its resources for healing instead of continually attempting to bring the flow of its energy back into balance.

You can use your fingertips, a tennis ball, the corner of a wall…..basically anything that can give some pressure for a release…try it and see the changes in your body go from being tight and contracted to a state of being relaxed and comforted.

Mind And Body

People need to prioritize emotional and mental well-being as a means to have a happy, healthy life. However, most people must learn to understand that having a happy and healthy life does not only rely on experiencing happy events. Food, plenty of sleep, and regular exercise are also needed to gain fulfillment and enjoyment each day.

Here are some helpful tips to make your life more zestful:

  1. Eat a Full Breakfast Every Morning

Research shows that people who take regular breakfast are happier and perform better at work than those who come to work without eating breakfast. By taking a full breakfast in the morning, you would not grow hungry by mid-day and fall into the trap of food binging which is usually a compensation mechanism for lack of nutrients. Breakfast can hold-off hunger pangs until lunchtime. People who would consume breakfast cereals contain a lot of proteins and carbohydrates. Its best to follow a one-week breakfast plan that contains a balanced amount of nutrients.

  2. Getting Enough Sleep

Doctors have known for many years that getting quality sleep is beneficial for overall health. Mental and physical performance is greatly affected by the quality of sleep. Getting enough sleep plays a role in preventing common illnesses like colds and flu. Sleep deprivation has an adverse effect on the immune function. Not only that it helps reduce stress, it also reduces inflammation and makes you more alert. Not getting enough sleep can make you drowsy and can lead to hazardous situations.

  3. Eating Omega-3

Omega-3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fatty acids found in leafy green vegetables, and fish such as salmon and mackerel. Omega-3 fatty acids reduce serum cholesterol levels and has anticoagulant properties. Omega-3 can be found in soybeans, granola, and tofu. It is known for reducing the risk of heart disease.

  4. Socialize

Having a social life is good for your mental health. Join a club, volunteer, or go out with friends — these are activities that promote fun and interaction which are good for your emotional health. Through friends, you can get and share important information, get emotional support, and have a sense of belonging which helps in overcoming depression and anxiety attacks. Being part of a community keeps the mind active.

  5. Exercise

Keeping in tip-top shape through physical activities not only helps you lose weight, it keeps the bone healthy and strong, reduces diabetes, reduce the risk of developing high blood pressure and diabetes, promotes psychological well-being. Not only that, it gives you more energy boost and better stress management and it also increases good circulation throughout our bodies needed to promote good health.

  6. Take up a hobby

Pursuing other interests outside your regular occupation is a great form of relaxation. Find hobbies that are enjoyable and interesting like scrapbook-making, reading a good book, playing a sport such as swimming or golfing or doing craft works. The joy that hobbies bring to people can also help you lead a healthier life.

   7. Good Hygiene

Good hygiene involves keeping your skin clean and protected from the sun from the ultraviolet rays of the sun that can cause wrinkles, dryness, and age spots. Overexposure to the UV rays can cause skin texture changes, dilated blood vessels, skin cancers, and sunburn.

Preparing Our Kids For Life

woman in black long sleeve dress standing on brown concrete pathway

When my 2 older kids were 16 and 17 years old still in high school and before heading out to college life, I sat them down at the table and told them that it is vital to learn how to be in financially good shape by teaching them the value of how to save, use a credit card correctly, how to write a check and how to balance a check book…that seems old school but still important for them to know. To them it was just silly lol…..but I felt that I really needed to share these things with them so that they can be financially healthy and prepare them for life.

God knows that I had to learn the hard way and I wouldn’t want that to happen to my kids but instead to have them start on a solid and healthy path on how to at least get an idea of what to expect and that it looks familiar when the time comes.

Well, I know that although I have taught them these things, I knew that they also needed to go through it on their own to really have it make sense to them…I am just grateful that today, my kids are doing well financially now at the age of 26 and 27…but I am not over yet as I have been and still am preparing my 18 year old…wish me luck LOL!!

If you haven’t yet…talk to your kids and prepare them for life and share from your heart what has helped you, what works or what doesn’t so that they can be ahead of the game and be prepared for living a fruitful life and having abundance without debt.

This is what I call “Its All About Life” and lessons learned. Thank you for letting me share, leave your email, leave me a comment and share my post.

The Connection Between Spiritual Health And Wellbeing

silhouette of mountains

Whenever life becomes a bore or seems meaningless, or when emotional hurts and pains become overwhelming, we tend to be confused or anxious. We feel dead in our spirits. But those who are spiritually nourished are strongly anchored in their faith and hope.
Emotional health is as important as being physically fit and having a sound mind. Our emotional, physical, and mental health are connected with each other that each one affects the health of the other. However, there is another factor that can contribute to a healthy well-being: Spiritual health.

Being spiritual is not just being religious. It is being in touch with the spirit within you. It is finding meaning, hope, comfort, and inner peace in your life. Most people find spirituality through religion. Others find it through music, art or, a connection with nature. Still, others find it in their values and principles.

Spiritual activities such as prayer and meditation foster positive beliefs and comfort which bring healing and a sense of well-being. By having that spiritual connection and to live by faith can heal you from ailments and it can help you feel better, prevent some health problems, and help you cope with illness or death. But those who are spiritually nourished are strongly anchored in their faith and hope. For Christians, boredom is a word that can never be used to describe a person who walks in the love of God. Firm believers have no room for anxiety and depression in their lives. The Christian faith surrenders all their worries and cares to God who is almighty.

Most people usually associate manifestations of anxiety with a panic attack. This is about senselessly talking and worrying about the various details of our daily life or about sudden, unexpected situations. Stuff that makes your stomach go into knots and gives you a headache and a pain in the back of your neck.

In trying to improve your spiritual health, always remember that every individual is different. What works for you may not work for others. Do what is comfortable for you. Try to identify the things in your life that give you a sense of inner peace, comfort, strength, love, and connection. Set aside a specific time every day to do the things that help you spiritually. These may include doing community service or volunteer work, praying, meditating, singing devotional songs, reading inspirational books, taking nature walks to spend time with God, having quiet time for thinking, doing yoga, playing a sport or attending religious services.

Go ahead and get connected to God and see the incredible and positive changes that he will make happen for you to live with a peaceful and happy mind, body and soul.

Learning how to breathe properly is such an important part to exercising. It means to be thinking consciously about how to breathe as it will keep you focused, decrease any anxieties, stay in control and increase positive flow of good energy to have success with your workout.

As you walk, run or sit we should be practicing good breathing techniques to allow us to one day breath properly automatically.

The breathing technique is called Diaphragmatic Breathing or Belly Breathing. We were never taught how to breath deeper down to the lower belly but rather we were taught to take a deep breath means to make our chest rise and fall however, that is considered shallow breathing which is less exchange of oxygen. Here are the steps to perform correctly.

  1. Place one hand on your lower belly and the other on your chest to see and feel that you are doing it correctly.
  2. Take a deep breath in through your nose slowly, and inflate your belly by letting it expand and rise.
  3. Slowly exhale doing a pursed lip technique which as if you are going to blow out a candle very slowly….slower than you inhaled and by doing this, you are conditioning your lungs to stay open longer and it improves the exchange of good oxygen and carbon dioxide.

Now, that you have the technique down, try walking and practice this breathing in motion and then when your are ready to step it up, start running and do the same. This takes practice as it won’t come easy so take your time and be consistent then you will find that you will have better endurance with less fatigue, feeling great and win the race.

Good luck to you and happy breathing…

Heart Smart

Almost 14 million Americans have a history of heart attack or angina. It is now one of the leading causes of death in the United States. More than 1 million Americans have heart attacks each year. A heart attack, or myocardial infarction (MI), is permanent damage to the heart muscle. Myo means muscle, cardial refers to the heart and infarction means death of tissue due to lack of blood supply.

Nutrition and energy are delivered to the entire body by blood from the pumping heart. The heart itself requires constant energy in the form of oxygen and nutrients, which all come from the blood that delivered through the coronary arteries.  A blockage in the coronary arteries prevents blood flow and causes the heart muscle to starve. The medical term for such starvation is ischemia, a condition that  is accompanied by a chest discomfort called angina.  If the blockage is severe, some of the heart muscle actually dies. When heart muscle dies, this is called a heart attack or myocardial infarction.

Aspirin is used to decrease blood clotting. It works by preventing platelets from sticking together and this can help prevent heart attacks but instead of just grabbing some medications whether it’s over the counter or prescription, why not start to learn how to get healthy and prevent a heart attack from happening doing it naturally as there are practical ways that can lessen the chances of having a heart attack by…Consuming at least five fruits and vegetables daily, change your eating habits, exercising at least 2.5 hours per week, maintaining a healthy weight and not smoking can decrease your chances of heart trouble by 35 percent, and the risk of dying by 40 percent, compared to people with less healthy lifestyles.  Research have shown that people who eat a balanced diet and exercise more can substantially reduce their risk for cardiovascular disease and death even if they’re in their 50s or 60s.  Most experts agree that a health-promoting lifestyle such as eating well, being active, and not smoking can cut overall risk of heart disease by 80 percent. Indeed, adopting a heart-healthy lifestyle makes a difference.

So, start now and don’t wait get moving, eat healthy, talk to your doctor to get started on a program for healthy living and to keep your heart healthy so that you can enjoy life to its fullest!
